Theatre + Projection + Dance = Amazing (Monday Mapping #108)

By January 19, 2015Monday Mapping

Another incredible Monday Mapping project for you that involved theatre, projection and dance. Premiered at Maison des Arts de Créteil on November the 15th 2014 this project is unique in that it was designed to be manipulated as the dancers move through the show. Utilizing false depth of field and perspective, this video is almost more than just mesmerizing… it’s deceptive and mystic. But amazing.

What makes this performance so stunning is the fact that it’s not interactive… but perceived interactive. This group took some creative ideas and made the actors seem to be in a digital world, when in fact they were just doing choreographed dances really really well. I would suggest that this is an idea anyone in our community could attempt! I noticed that they even used mostly high contrast graphics which allowed the visuals to pop while lighting the stage for the dancers.
