Facial Projection Mapping

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, something new pops up, an artist gets a genius inspiration, and the seemingly impossible becomes possible. Nombumichi Asai a media artist and technical director based in Tokyo worked with Studio WOW to create this connected colors projection mapping project.  By blending the art of cosmetic and digital makeup, he’s created an eye catching visual that is sure to be remembered.

Asai uses something called “Real Time Face Tracking” in order to capture a cohesive flow of motion between facial gestures and digital movement. His reason for the piece is “centered on the colors of nature, and is an expression of electric make-up in the form of various colors intermingling and harmonizing. Expressed from beyond the viewpoint of humanity, “Connected Colors” aims to convey the human desire for harmony and coexistence of life on Earth,” (nobumichiasai.com).
